Architecture and property

Streatham’s housing stock is varied and characterful, with Victorian and Edwardian terraces, 1930s apartment blocks and semi-detached homes. Detached homes line the tree-filled streets off the High Road, while well-maintained council estates offer more affordable options.

Going out

Streatham’s food scene is diverse and exciting, with local favourites like Bravi Ragazzi and Bar 61. Pubs such as The Bull offer relaxed atmospheres and summer BBQs, while Streatham Wine House is a hit with connoisseurs. Cultural highlights include the Streatham Theatre Company and the annual Streatham Festival, which brings the community together with music, art and performance. Though The Hideaway jazz club and Streatham Space Project have closed, efforts are underway to revive these beloved venues.

Local amenities

Streatham offers plenty of options for fitness and leisure. The Streatham Ice and Leisure Centre is home to London’s only Olympic-sized ice rink, alongside a large gym, fitness studios, two swimming pools and a sports hall. Just north of Streatham Hill, Tooting Bec Lido remains a major attraction, featuring the UK’s largest open-air swimming pool and a spacious studio for yoga, Pilates and tai chi classes. 

The High Road is seeing a growing number of independent shops. Don’t miss The Indigo Tree for unique gifts just a short walk from Streatham Hill station, or Balfe’s Bikes Streatham for expert bike sales and servicing.

Green spaces

Streatham Common is a vast green space with woodland, meadows, and panoramic views of London. It’s also home to The Rookery, a formal garden and summer theatre venue. Nearby Tooting Bec Common features the famous Lido and Wimbledon Common offers expansive heathland and nature trails.
